Full Description:

The water safety course would be a one day course and would consist of a Lecture and dry drills in the morning with wet drills in the afternoon.
0830-1730
The lectures would cover.
 Hazards associated with cold water immersion and how to handle a person with hypothermia. (Hypothermia, cold water shock etc.)
 PPE Different Life Jackets, Life Jacket maintenance and correct donning and doffing of kit
 Immersion suits and thermal protective aids
 Case Studies
 Weather and tides
 Life buoys, Throwing lines and other means to assist a person from the water
 Self-help techniques, swimming whilst wearing a life jacket
 Location Aids
 Emergency services
 Identification of hazards for implementation of control measures prior to under taking task
Wet drills
 Pool area safety brief.
 Proving their own kit in the water. (An instructor will wear it in the pool.)
 Swimming with a life jacket.
 In Water Survival Techniques.
 Recovering a casualty from the water and casualty handling. (scenario based exercise.)
 Climbing a ladder from the water.
All of the above is flexible and can be changed or adjusted for the client.
The key to the delivery of this course will be if the client could supply us with the following for the purposes of course content.
1. An outline of the tasks they would be engaged in near or on the water.
2. Do they use boats?
3. What type of PPE do they use?
4. Any problems incidents etc. they have had before when working near/on the water.
5. Any questions they would like answered on the day.
6. All information is relevant and instrumental in the delivery of a relevant course
