A/Sea Jason Ansboro joined the Naval Service on the 3rd of July 2001. Having passed his initial Gunnery & Seaman-ship training in March 2002 he was posted to L.E. Aisling where he spent two years.  After attaining an Ad Qual as a Database Operator he took up duty in the National Fisheries MC in 2004.  His second sea posting was on L.E. Ciara  in October 2005 during which time he completed his Gunnery level 2 and Seamanship professional’s courses. In his spare time Jason is an active member of Youghal RNLI, having completed all the relevant courses qualifying him as a RHIB coxswain. He is also a Powerboat instructor with the Irish Sailing Association. Jason’s hobbies include all types of water-sports, particularly Scuba Diving. Jason received the A/SEA Brian Gorey Memorial  Seamanship Trainee Of the Year award in recognition of his outstanding performance on the recent seamanship professional's course. His enthusiasm and interest in seamanship were clearly evident and the extra work and self study completed by him during this course singled him out as a perfect winner. His performance while in a general sense extraordinary really only reflected the consistent high standards that Jason sets and maintains.  High standards I am pleased to say that have not gone unnoticed for Jason is currently, following in his brother’s footsteps, on the 32nd Potential NCO course here in NMCI.
