The Summer conferring ceremony of Degrees and Special Purpose Awards took place on Thursday, 19th of June 2008 at the National Maritime College of Ireland.

Three classes of graduates were presented, bachelor of Engineering in Marine & Plant Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Nautical Science and Special Purposes Award at level 6 in Sea Fisheries Control & Enforcement.  The graduates of the first two will shortly be taking up appointments at sea in merchant shipping and the naval service.  The Special Purposes Award graduates are from agencies involved in supervising Irish sea fishing efforts.  This is one of several new courses developed and offered by the NMCI and graduates of a variety of marine, naval and transport related courses will be seen at conferrings in the near future.

The master of ceremonies was Mr. John Clarence, Head of College who introduced the graduates to the Director of CIT, Dr. Brendan Murphy to receive their parchments.



Students of Bachelor of Science in Nautical Science

The graduates and their families and friends were invited to the college restaurant for refreshments after the ceremony
